The Heavy Seas 28th Anniversary Ale is a full body, high octane brew celebrating what they hang their hat on–strong, smooth beers.
I wanted the look and feel of the label to pay tribute to their reputation as the OG brewer of Baltimore and one placed their beer high on a pedestal, right where it belongs.
We loved that idea of something that paid homage to Baltimore as a port city. So, I created a vectorized map of it to subtly give some interest to the background while anchoring the viewer to a stylized skull on a pile of crown jewels.
I especially had fun with some of the smaller details that made this label come to life, like small diamond that appears on the bottle's neck and the engraving lines across the skull.
